Stage 1
Please note -
this is a trial of the Easy route being planned by Annan the History Town Group
which will use information hubs being installed soon and we are looking for
feedback from this trial.
The trail loops
so it can be started at any of the information points.
This easy route
is 0.8 mile (1800 steps) taking 18 minutes if you don’t stop to take in the
history and the views.
Please note
some pavements are uneven, narrow or non-existent so please take care - especially
when crossing busy roads.
Once established, there will be much more historic
information, quizzes and questions on the proposed web link and the boards
themselves.
Annan Old Parish Church – Downies Wynd
There is a lot of history to be found at this location.
Dates over doors, on guttering, widened pathways and a benchmark can all be
found without too much searching.
When installed, Annan the History Town information boards
will have details of Edward Irving and St Kentigern.
From here as you move along the High Street, you will pass
an old coaching inn. The busy crossroad junction known as Fish Cross was a hub
of great activity.
Directions: Cross Butts Street and the High Street and head along the High Street towards the other traffic lights but stop outside the new location for Canine Rescue.
